Theatre Field Trip
The ALC will be taking students on a field trip to the Park Square Theatre which is showing Midsummer Night's Dream in Minneapolis in December. Further details will be coming, but tickets need to be purchased now so we are collecting money to help pay for the tickets. Students need to bring $7 per person (which is a huge discount!) by October 16th (Tuesday) to reserve a seat. Please send money with your student(s) as this is an amazing opportunity for our students to see a professional play. The price per ticket is drastically discounted and it is a wonderful chance for our students to be a part of a culturally enriching event that we are sure they will enjoy and learn from.

We are going to be having a Flu Shot Clinic at the ALC on Oct. 26 (Friday). If you would like to have your student receive a flu shot, please have the permission slip and insurance form that were sent home with the students today returned by this date. Field Trip and Lock-in!!
It's offical! We were approved last night by the school board to hold a camping trip or lock-in at the ALC. Due to the cold nights, we will be holding a lock-in. Students will be bringing home itineraries of the field trip and lock-in, but below is a brief description of the event.
September 27 (Thursday) we will leave at 8:00 am from the ALC and go to the Mystery Cave near Preston, MN. We will take a tour of the cave and then have a picnic on the grounds. Then, we will stop by a disc golf course on the way back to Waseca and play a round or two of frisbee golf. We should be returning to the ALC around 4:00 or 5:00. We will be making pizzas and doing activities such as video games, gym (volleyball), movies. For sleeping the students will crash in two classrooms (one for males and one for females). On Friday, when everyone wakes up and gets ready we will release them to go home, which may be around 9:00 or 10:00. Please notify the office if they need a ride home and we will make arrangements. This should be an enjoyable event where the staff and students can get to know each other while doing some fun activities.

Guest Speaker
The ALC will be going over to the Jr./Sr. High this Wednesday to hear the guest speaker Phil Chalmer. He has a good message and the ALC staff believes this will be a good opportunity for our students. We will be taking a bus over at 9:30 and returning to the ALC at around 11:00.

Poetry sample
Here is another sample from the poetry class...
Sweet Dreams
Shakespeare knew
Dreams are seldom sweet.
A mind rewind
A stressed-out mess
Jagged jungle
Through which we stumble
Searching for a clearing.
Not peace,
But oblivion
our only solace.
Mrs. Skinner
